*Provided a home away from home for families of children being treated for serious injuries and illnesses at Valley Children's Hospital.*Families come from more than 9 central California counties, often more than 3 hours from home.*The house provides the families a respite from the hospital setting as well as support for their emotional and physical needs.*The house has 18 bedrooms, each with private bathrooms, a kitchen with full facilities, a laundry room, play room, living room, outdoor play area, and more. During the year approximately 279 families were served, staying at the house for 18 days or more at a time.*Nonperishable food is provided for families who need it.*Along with the convenience of being within walking distance from the hospital, services available to families include a kitchen, laundry facilities, children's play area and quiet rooms.
