Valley Womens Club Association of San Lorenzo Valley Incorporated

The Valley Women's Club (VWC) of the San Lorenzo Valley is dedicated to community action, awareness, and leadership in environmental, educational, social, and political concerns that affect the health and welfare of the San Lorenzo Valley and our community. The VWC sponsors a wide range of special events relating to its mission, including the annual Environmental Town Hall, Candidate's Forums, workshops, and forums that address erosion, pollution, watersheds, fire mitigation, debris flow, rivers, streams, and the estuary. The Community Solutions Committee addresses issues directly affecting the community, with a major focus on women's issues, such as State and Federal legislation, education, health and safety, as well as respite care relief fund and a Caregiver meeting once a month. The VWC also sponsors special events such as the Redwood Mountain Fair, which celebrates community and showcases music and the arts. In conjunction with Save our Shores, the River and Road Clean-up reduces pollution in the San Lorenzo Valley's waterways to prevent pollution from washing into Monterey Bay. The Native Habitat Committee sponsors education to re-establish native habitat, reforestation, and pollinator garden routes throughout the Valley. The Committee also holds an Annual Native Plant Faire, focusing on repopulating the native habitat environment of our Redwood Valley. The Education Committee works closely with our local schools to support and provide opportunities for students to receive scholarships and our teachers to receive grants based on science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) studies. VWC projects also raise funds for outdoor education and Science Camps within the district.The Board of Directors manages the VWC, and all activities are funded by donations, membership, and grants. A quarterly newsletter, website, and emails keep the members and friends of VWC informed of activities and volunteer opportunities.
