In 2021, after 15 years of Health Alliance International's Cote d'Ivoire program (HAI-CI) strengthening the Ivorian government's capacity to provide HIV prevention, care, and treatment services through the public sector health system, HAI-CI's presence in Cote d'Ivoire came to an end. With PEPFAR's transition to preferring local NGO grantees, HAI, as an international NGO, was unable to compete for renewal funding and finished its programmatic operations in-country at the end of September 2021. All of HAI-CI's former PEPFAR responsibilities were transitioned successfully to local NGO partners, ensuring ongoing service continuity.
