CONSERVATION AND STEWARDSHIP:OKANOGAN LAND TRUST CONTINUED ITS WORK TO CONSERVE AND STEWARD LAND AND WATER RESOURCES. OLT ACCEPTED TWO CONSERVATION EASEMENTS: ONE WAS FUNDED BY GRANTS FROM THE WASHINGTON STATE RECREATION AND CONSERVATION OFFICE AND THE NATIONAL RESOURCES CONSERVATION SERVICE; THE OTHER WAS TRANSFERRED TO OLT FROM ITS ORIGINAL GRANTEE. WE MADE SUBSTANIAL PROGRESS ON FIVE ADDITIONAL CONSERVATION EASEMENT PROJECTS; THREE ARE FUNDED THROUGH STATE AND/OR FEDERAL GRANTS. WE ALSO WORKED WITH THE METHOW OKANOGAN BEAVER PROJECT ON THE SECOND OF TWO PROJECTS FUNDED BY THE WASHINGTON STATE DEPARTMENT OF ECOLOGY WHICH, WHEN COMPLETED, WILL RESULT IN CONSERVATION EASEMENTS AND ECOLOGICAL RESTORATION ON A PROPERTY WITH IMPORTANT RIPARIAN HABITAT. IN TOTAL THESE FIVE PROJECTS REPRESENT OVER 4,000 ACRES OF AGRICULTURAL LAND, WILDLIFE HABITAT AND PRIORITY STREAMS. WE ALSO CONTINUED TO UPHOLD OUR ANNUAL MONITORING AND STEWARDSHIP OBLIGATIONS ON EACH OF OUR 35 EXISTING CONSERVATION EASEMENTS, ADDRESSING POTENTIAL VIOLATIONS OF THE EASEMENT TERMS AND SUPPORTING LANDOWNERS IN THEIR MANAGEMENT GOALS.
