In 2023, CALDA continued to see steady growth, engagement within the membership, and involvement with the public. While hosting over 70 virtual events, in-person seminars were once again enjoyed with one each held in Northern and Southern California. The fourth annual virtual conference reached record attendance with over 150 registrants and 20 hours of continuing legal education offered. To raise public awareness of the profession and the role of CALDA, the association made a concerted effort to participate in events attended by attorneys, paralegals, county clerks and recorders, and students. New informational materials were created and provided to County Law Libraries and courts upon request for distribution to pro per patrons. The biggest cause for celebration in 2023 was CALDAs involvement in the passage of AB-690 which extends the sunset clause of the code that governs Legal Document Assistants until 2030.
