WPTTs core founding tenet is exploring and promoting the concept of benevolent technology. Benevolent technologies are tools and platforms that help to build peace between people. These tools foster education and discussion and raise awareness of our global interdependency. Benevolent AI can transform human productivity, education, and health sciences enabling us to address many of the worlds most complex challenges, such as climate change and the ongoing threat of infectious disease. 1)WPTTs primary education project is the Immersive Learning Center (ILC) located in downtown Vallejo, CA. ILC is an educational after-school program serving one of the most under-served school districts in California. Students have access to the latest in Virtual Reality technology and a curriculum-based on STEAM (Science/Technology/Engineering/Art/Math). ILC uses game-based learning, project-based learning and Immersive technology, i.e. Virtual Reality to make learning fun & engaging. Students learn using coding, Minecraft, robotics & engineering, and gaining media literacy.2)WPTTs research program, ImmersiveLearning.AI is focused on using advances in machine learning and Artificial intelligence to create virtual tutors for Kindergarten to Grade 6 (K-6) age children. Using pre-trained language models like GPT-3, ImmersiveLearning.AI represents a pedagogical advance for learning and teaching in the 21st century.www.thellc.net 3)How Weird Street Faire, our major fundraiser, utilizes 13 city blocks of art & celebration, including 10 stages of world-class electronic music, performances, peace activities, technology exhibits, food and drinks, vendors from around the world selling unique and creative wares & non-profit organizations to educate & inspire.www.howweird.org4)Code4Peace events feature collaborative computer coding sessions (hackathons) designed to produce software & create a community of programmers who support peace.www.code4peace.org5)Peace Tour is a traveling technology show; educating & entertaining participants & spreading a message of peace throughout the globe. 6)In November 2019 WPTTs Brad Olsen embarked on a four-month live-streamed journey or Peacetour to the megalithic structures in South America followed by sailing through the Drake Passage to Antarctica. The expedition made it all the way to Palmer Station, a United States research station located north of the Antarctic Circle. The first-hand experience and knowledge gained of the effects of global warming created a compelling narrative for our students on the effects of climate change.www.peacetour.com7)WPTT supports international and community organizations that promote peace, education, safety, and equality. In 2019, WPTT donated to organizations that support LGBTQ sports and athletics, promote neighborhood vibrancy in San Francisco and the Bay Area, educate high-risk youth and the developmentally disabled, reduce gun violence through buy back programs, promote spiritual peace and harmony in the Middle East, and bring technology to schools in Nepal.
