Grants Program/AwardsTwice each year, we solicit grant requests from Lowell faculty, staff and coaches to fund projects that supplement Lowell High Schools academic and extracurricular programs. Our Grant Committee evaluates the requests and makes funding recommendations to the LAA Board of Directors for their review and approval. In prior years, we did not recognize the expense until it was paid out; however, we changed this reporting in this fiscal year to recognize the expense when incurred (i.e. awarded). Of the $349,670 expense, $308,901 represents payments for prior year and this years awards and $40,769 represents this years awards that were not paid out at the end of the year.

Programs ServicesThe Lowell Alumni Association communicates regularly with our more than 33,000 alumni, former faculty and other friends of Lowell High School. We also supported and facilitated a significant number of class reunions this fiscal. In addition to alumni services, the LAA developed a program named LEAD that reaches out to middle school students who have the desire and potential to attend Lowell High School that brings these students to Lowell for tutoring by Lowell High School students. This program that started with one (1) school has expanded to two (2) middle schools. The LAA Executive Director supports those efforts as well as various alumni relations activities, including alumni participation in Lowells annual commencement exercises and Lowell High School performing arts and athletic events.
