THE SANTA MONICA BAY WOMAN'S CLUB (THE CLUB) IS A MEMBERSHIP ORGANIZATION THAT CONSISTS OF 110 MEMBERS. THE CLUB HELD 198 EVENTS FOR ITS MEMBERS. THESE EVENTS WERE MEMBERS AS WELL AS THE COMMUNITY. THESE EVENTS INCLUDED WEEKLY CARD GAMES (BRIDGE AND CANASTA), ARTISTS' LEAGUE MEETINGS, BOOK CLUB MEETINGS, AND A POTLUCK DINNER. AT THESE EVENTS, DONATIONS FROM PARTICIPANTS WERE COLLECTED AND DISBURSED TO SELECT CHARITABLE ORGANIZATIONS. FOR THIS FISCAL YEAR, 22 CHARITABLE ORGANIZATIONS WERE THE RECIPIENTS OF DONATIONS TOTALING $49,000. THIS INCLUDES FUNDS COLLECTED FROM MEMBERS AT EVENTS AS DESCRIBED, AS WELL AS FUNDS FROM THE CLUB GENERAL ACCOUNTS. IN ADDITION, $10,000 WAS AWARDED." THE LOCATION OF MOST OF THE CLUB EVENTS IS THE CLUBHOUSE OF THE SANTA MONICA BAY WOMAN'S CLUB LOCATED IN SANTA MONICA, BUILT IN 1914 AND DESIGNATED AS A SANTA MONICA HISTORICAL LANDMARK IN 1991. THIS CLUBHOUSE IS NOT ONLY USED FOR MOST OF THE MEMBER EVENTS DESCRIBED ABOVE BUT ALSO USED OR CULTURAL, CIVIC, EDUCATIONAL SOCIAL AND OTHER EVENTS.
