NET's Parks and Open Space Program designs and builds public parks and green spaces and implements water conservation projects following Nature Based Solutions and Low Impact Development design principles. For example, the installation of bioswales helps water travel on paths so it can penetrate the earth before it runs off to the streets and into storm drains. Schools, agencies, foundations, and the City and County of Los Angeles are among the beneficiaries of NET's work eliminating invasive species, planting drought resistant native plants and trees to restore the habitat, and installing site attributes such as playgrounds, public information signage, landscaping and boulders, sidewalks, and drinking fountains.

NET's Urban Forestry Program focuses on expanding the Los Angeles urban tree canopy to help cool down and beautify under resourced communities. NET plants and maintains street trees along neighborhood streets and gives fruit and shade trees to residents. These trees provide not just the emotional health benefits urban green spaces support, they help manage stormwater and reduce urban heat, which in turn decreases energy costs. Through outreach, education and workforce development, NET teaches people how to plant and care for their trees, about the importance and benefits of trees, and how to develop and care for their urban forest.

Program 3
Expenses: $449,957 Revenue: $71,096

Other Programs included land stewardship, management, open space conservation and opertating a nursery.
