The Santa Clarita Valley Youth Project Inc

The Santa Clarita Valley Youth Project (SCVYP) provides free one on one counseling, facilitates support groups, offers crisis intervention, outreach, and community education to teens in the Santa Clarita Valley. We provide services on six high school and six junior high school campuses. We help students deal with depression, anger, substance abuse, pregnancy, domestic violence, relationships, family, suicide, neglect, bullying, self-harm, sexual identity, and various other issues. The SCVYP has continued to be a premier provider of services to youth and families in the Santa Clarita Valley. By serving twelve junior high and high schools, in the Santa Clarita Valley, we reach thousands of students on a yearly basis, through one on one peer mentoring, support groups, crisis intervention, and outreach programs. We work with and assist teens that are facing serious issues such as depression, anger, domestic violence, sexual assault, child abuse, substance abuse, teen pregnancy, grief & loss, family issues, bullying and peer pressure, and numerous others. Our staff of six has caseloads of roughly 15-20 individual students, over and above the support groups and classroom presentations and other outreach opportunities. On a weekly basis, we meet with at least 100 students (one on one), and on average, we facilitate 3-5 group sessions per week, with average attendance of 15 students.We continue to maximize our outreach and educational campaigns which include classroom presentations, Lunchtime Madness, Game of Life, and Teen 411 on a weekly or monthly basis, introducing more students and families to the SCVYP. The SCVYP maintains collaborative relationships with the City of Santa Clarita and other youth focused agencies, by providing education about our services as well as providing resources and referrals for additional assistance. The SCVYP also provides assistance through our website, www.helpnothassle.org, and responds to requests for help from teens throughout the United States.Our programs provide invaluable tools for youth during times of crisis, and because of the successes we have had, continue to be in demand at the high school and junior high school levels.
