Sickle Cell Trait Follow-Up Program SCTFP In partnership with the California Department of Public Health CDPH Newborn Screening Program and in accordance with Health and Safety Code Section 125001 the Sickle Cell Disease Foundation SCDF provides specialized genetic counseling services for individuals and families affected by heritable hemoglobin conditions including Sickle Cell Trait SCT and Sickle Cell Disease SCD. The Foundation delivers bilingual English and Spanish counseling by phone and in person to families of newborns identified through the Newborn Screening Program with specific hemoglobin patterns. SCDF also provides referrals and follow-up support helping families connect with medical and community-based resources statewide.
