The mission of the Palm Springs Opera Guild is to bring the art of opera to the Coachella Valley through educational outreach, live performances, and financial support for artists. Celebrating over 55 years, the Palm Springs Opera Guild is a premier operatic arts and education organization dedicated to enriching lives through opera music.We offer numerous educational and outreach programs for students (K-12) and adults in the Valley, teaching elements of music, theatre, history, and culture. The Palm Springs Opera Guild serves over 25,000 students each year and hosts an annual Opera in the Park community concert, attracting thousands of attendees from Southern California and the world. Annually, young artists are given opportunities to perform and perfect their operatic skills through our vocal competition and various programs and events.During the 20242025 season, Palm Springs Opera Guild continued its mission to promote and preserve the operatic arts through education, performance, and community engagement. The Guild celebrated its 56th anniversary with a robust lineup of programs that reached thousands across the Coachella Valley. Key accomplishments included: Opera in the Schools: Delivered interactive opera education to over 25,000 K12 students, fostering early appreciation for classical music and performance. Opera in the Park: Hosted the regions largest free outdoor opera concert, drawing thousands of attendees and showcasing emerging and established talent. Vocal Competition Expansion: Transitioned the annual Vocal Competition to a national platform, attracting applicants from across the U.S. and awarding over $35,000 in scholarships to rising opera stars. Community Engagement: Welcomed 14 new members and secured major gifts from The Augustine Foundation, Newmans Own, and the Anderson Children's Foundation for Opera in the Schools. Educational Programming: Presented lectures, salon performances, and cultural events including Zarzuela, enriching public understanding of operas global heritage. These initiatives reflect the Guilds commitment to artistic excellence, youth education, and cultural accessibility. The organization remains a cornerstone of the Coachella Valleys arts community.
