IN FURTHERANCE OF ITS CHARITABLE PURPOSE, THE CLINIC PROVIDES MEDICAL CARE WITHOUT CHARGE OR AT REDUCED CHARGE TO RESIDENTS OF THE COMMUNITY, PRIMARILY THROUGH: (A) SERVICES PROVIDED AT NO CHARGE TO THE UNINSURED; (B) THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN PUBLIC PROGRAM PAYMENTS (PRIMARILY MEDICAL) AND THE RELATED COSTS OF PROVIDING SUCH SERVICES; AND (C) THE SERVICES PROVIDED TO PATIENTS EXPRESSING A WILLINGNESS TO PAY BUT WHO ARE UNABLE DUE TO SOCIO-ECONOMIC FACTORS. ASTHMA, BACK AND NECK CARE, CHOLESTEROL, DIABETES, HEALTHY AGING, JOINT REPLACEMENT, STRESS, WEIGHT MANAGEMENT FOR CHILDREN AND ADULTS) THAT ARE OFFERED EACH YEAR. THE CLASSES ARE OPEN TO THE COMMUNITY, ARE OFFERED FOR FREE OR AT A NOMINAL FEE AND ARE AVAILABLE THROUGHOUT THE COUNTY. - LEADING CAMP WHEEZ AND PROVIDING PHYSICIANS AND SUPPORT STAFF FOR THIS WEEKLONG SUMMER CAMP FOR CHILDREN LIVING WITH ASTHMA. - COLLABORATING WITH SANTA BARBARA NEIGHBORHOOD CLINICS TO PROVIDE DIAGNOSTIC CARE AND SPECIALTY MEDICAL SERVICES TO RESIDENTS WHO COULD OTHERWISE NOT AFFORD THESE TESTS. - PROVIDING RELIABLE HEALTH AND RESOURCE INFORMATION FREE OF CHARGE TO ANY COMMUNITY MEMBER, PATIENTS AND NON-PATIENTS ALIKE, THROUGH OUR HEALTH RESOURCE CENTER. - PARTICIPATING IN A VARIETY OF RESEARCH PROJECT WITH PARTNERS SUCH AS UCLA, THE RAND CORPORATION AND SEVERAL PHARMACEUTICAL COMPANIES. - PARTICIPATING IN OVER A DOZEN ANNUAL HEALTH FAIRS AND FREE HEALTH SCREENING EVENTS. On October 2, 2023 Sansum Clinic joined the not-for-profit Sutter Health system to expand access to high-quality healthcare. This alliance will reinforce Sansum's healthcare infrastructure and allow continued investment in its not-for-profit, ambulatory, and multi-specialty care model. It will enable continued growth to serve the community for decades to come while providing an opportunity for Sutter to serve the Central Coast and benefit from Sansum's expertise and partnership with local leadership and the community. Sutter Health is an integrated health system of associated clinicians, employees and volunteers support who more than 3 million patients in diverse communities across two dozen counties. Headquartered in Northern California, Sutter provides access to high quality, affordable care through its hospitals, medical foundations, ambulatory surgery centers, urgent and walk-in care centers, telehealth, home health and hospice services. Most members of Sansum Clinic's former Board of Trustees have transitioned onto the Sutter Health Greater Central Coast Advisory Board. This board strives to be representative of the communities the central coast area and will provide regular advice and counsel on issues related to strategic development, patient access and experience, programmatic development, philanthropic priorities, physician and staff recruitment and other topics important to the Clinic's successful operation.
