The Birdsong Health Literacy Center of Excellence

Access to Technology: BHLCOE entered into a strategic partnership with PCs for People, a nationally recognized nonprofit organization that provides refurbished computers and digital access at no cost to individuals who are economically and socially underserved. As part of this collaboration, BHLCOE allocated funding to support the pre-installation of the EdLogics Rewards for Healthy People platform onto the refurbished computers distributed by PCs for People. The Rewards for Healthy People platform includes evidence-based digital games, quizzes, and learning activities designed to improve health literacy and financial literacy, while simultaneously encouraging behavior change through a rewards-based model. The integration of this platform aligns directly with BHLCOE's mission to promote equitable access to health information and supports the broader public health goals of digital inclusion, preventive care awareness, and community wellness.

Small Business Education: Recognizing that social determinants of health - such as access to reliable health information, financial stability, and preventive care - are foundational to business success, BHLCOE focuses on equipping small businesses with the tools to thrive in an evolving economic landscape. BHLCOE provides direct training to health literacy ambassadors and contributes health literacy content, provides subject matter experts for speaking engagements, and offers mentorship and strategic input to members of the community. These efforts are designed to help entrepreneurs better understand the connection between health literacy and economic resilience, empowering them to make informed decisions that support both personal well-being and business sustainability.
