GIEF engaged directly with policymakers legislative staff and regulatory agencies to advocate for specific policy changes identified through its research-based bottleneck framework. Activities included targeted outreach and briefings focused on governance improvement systemic risk reduction and democratic stability. This reporting period reflects initial program establishment and early engagement activities. Because policy influence is an intangible output specific legislative or regulatory outcomes cannot yet be measured; however the longer-term goal is to achieve concrete policy adoption in priority areas including AI governance and institutional resilience. Activity volume and measurable outcomes will be reported in subsequent years as programs mature.

GIEF conducts in-depth policy research that forms the evidence base for its advocacy work. The organization applies an Importance Neglectedness Tractability INT framework to identify topics where targeted advocacy can have meaningful impact. Research focuses on governance challenges institutional effectiveness technological adaptation and systems affecting public welfare in domestic and international contexts. Each project is designed to produce specific actionable policy recommendations for direct engagement with decision-makers. Well-researched recommendations are more likely to be adopted by policymakers contributing to improved governance and democratic stability. GIEF published 1 research report on technology and research integrity and 7 commentaries on governance and international policy issues. The longer-term objective is to build a sustained body of evidence that directly informs legislative and regulatory decisions across priority areas including AI governance institutional resilience and democratic stability.
